I can see that this tribe was created mostly (or maybe entirely) for radio drama but I hope I'm not being too off-topic by posting about radio comedy shows. There's no other OTR tribe on Tribe.net that I can see.
I used to get the catalog for Video Yesteryear and Radio Yesteryear. I was hoping the company had gone on the web, but I don't see that they have. Does anyone know if they've gone out of business?
If I could figure out what I'm doing, I suppose I could download a lot of the kind of stuff I'm looking for (Will Rogers, Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, Jack Benny, etc.) for free but...I don't know what I'm doing. So I might be interested in actually buying the stuff. Plus Sandy Hook Records was also associated with the Yesteryear catalog and they put out some great soundtracks.

so, while we're on the topic: who's yer favorite radio comedian?
i'll have to go with jack benny, burns and allen, and abbott and costello for joke stealing purposes.

Tue, November 22, 2005 - 12:00 PMAbsolutely, we should have comedies represented, too! Some of them are just as 'classic' as anything the Mercury Theatre ever did.

Re: OTR Comedy
Thu, March 2, 2006 - 10:41 PMI've downloaded a few free Bob Hope Shows that I've been able to find. Does anyone know where there's a list of regular cast members for various radio shows? There's this one guy who turns up on several Bob Hope Shows 'round Xmas. He has a deep gravelly voice reminiscent of Eugene Pallette's and says "put something in the pot, boy". Does anyone know who that is? -

Re: OTR Comedy
Fri, March 3, 2006 - 5:58 AMMy first thought would be Jerry Colonna, but he doesn't really have a gravelly voice. -

Re: OTR Comedy
Fri, March 3, 2006 - 1:02 PMNo, it's not him. I know who Colonna is, plus they always announce him. This guy plays in character sketches and they never call him by name.
