Wed, June 15, 2005 - 7:36 PMYou could try ebay but I can't speak for the quality. Some local libraries might have a few titles as well.

Re: ON CD?
Fri, June 17, 2005 - 7:16 PMYou can find a lot of stuff free on the internet if you have the time to seek it out and download it. For example, there is an archive on-line (if someone wants the url, lemme' know) where you can download all or most of Jack Benny's radio shows.
I just bought a CDR of OTR on Ebay, all mp3 files. The price was really cheap, under $6 with shipping, and it really beats my efforts to find and download the stuff myself. The quality *always* varies on any source you will find OTR. The quality is not something you should be looking for really, as radio pretty much sounded like crap back in the days of radio programs anyway. They were also played on the worst kind of speaker imaginable. No Bose sound systems back in the day. Being that most of these recordings are scarce, there just aren't too many different recordings around to pick and choose from. -

Re: ON CD?
Wed, June 29, 2005 - 9:05 AMa few years ago i ordered the 17 disc "complete" suspense collection from OTR now.
www.otrnow.com/store/collection.htm
i say "complete", b/c it's not 100% as there are lost and damaged episodes, but it's really extensive. over 900 shows, i believe. good quality, also. i'm very happy with them. endless hours of entertainment! -

I just ordered some CDs at www.thegoodolddays.ca/page1.htm
The selection is good, though not great. Missing is many of the great dramas; i.e., Gangbusters, Inner Sanctum, Thin Man, etc.
I got the Baby Snooks CD (contains 55 shows), Big Jon & Sparkie (97 shows), Fred Allen (113 shows) and Stan Freberg (34 shows) which is, approximately 450 hours worth of listening pleasure. (
I hope the quality isn't too fussy, stacky nor muffled ... and, hopefully, playable on any format ... particularly my Bose car stereo ... I mean, 450 hours ... wow, that's a lot of driving time.

Fri, July 8, 2005 - 10:02 AM97 episodes of big john and sparkie???

Re: ON CD?
Sat, July 9, 2005 - 12:32 AMYeah, one might suffice ... but one can not get one. One can only get 97.
It's only five bucks.
So one does not complain.
One will probably listen to one ... every now and then.
In between episodes of Gangbuster, Allen's Alley ... etc.

I hope that link works Edwin, because there's 20 (give or take) episodes of Gangbusters here - all for free!

I highly reccomend the Benny Goodman shows for download. Classic swing, really really nice stuff from the late 30's.

Re: ON CD?
Mon, November 14, 2005 - 5:22 PMwww.otrcat.com
an amazon.com-style company (run by one dude and his wife) that 'sells' mp3 CDs of hundreds of OTRs, for $5 per CD (sometimes $4 if it's on sale).
Have gotten these shows through this site already:
Adventures by Morse
Captain Midnight
Cisco Kid (disc one)
Fort Laramie
Frontier Gentleman
Hop Harrigan
I Love a Mystery (disc one)
Journey Into Space
Moon Over Africa
Mysterious Traveler
Space Patrol
and
Speed Gibson
and more are on the way. As stated above in another response, the quality of each mp3 on each discs varies greatly. Some are outstanding, some are barely listenable, since the quality of OTR was so low-fidelity in those days. Still, it's an incredible amount of old stories that are still enjoyable today. I've filled up my 1 GB exercise mp3 player with them myself... :) -

Re: ON CD?
Sat, March 10, 2007 - 6:10 PMHi, if you can burn Cd's on your computer. You can do a chain letter. I think you get one, and then burn two, and mail them to other people.
groups.yahoo.com/group/OTRRDistroGroup/
If you have broadband you can go to groups.yahoo.com/group/otrhub/ and sign up. then you get the free dcplus file sharing program. I got a lot of shows!
